This route is rideable in either direction. Be aware that Henness Pass is quite rocky and extreme care should be taken descending it in either direction. Heading down the TPT singletrack is actually a less technical descent than down Henness Pass Road.
The TPT runs along the Truckee River if you have a filter/purification device.

Because of the slower singletrack of the TPT this route does take longer than the mileage/elevation would suggest. The route variation by Boca is slightly shorter with a higher percentage of pavement that is slightly faster.
